On our first day (after having been to see the apartment) we saw a lot of rollerbladers pass by with a police escort. The ones in the front were going really fast but the ones in back (who were going slower) were almost being pushed by the police cars. We saw this near the bakery in the general area of our apartment.

The plane ride for the most part went well, except for the hour delay in Portland. It was about nine hours long but there was a movie and the flight attendants brought water and juice every hour or so. When we landed in Frankfurt we stopped to have a snack and then waited another hour for the plane to Paris. Charles de Gaulle airport is a nice one, everything is in a circular building with the middle cut out. As soon as we had our baggage, which took a while, we headed for the RER train into Paris.
